Carol A Asher

< biography >

All her life, Carol A. Asher knew she was an artist.  Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she earned a degree in commercial art at Forest Park Community College, and worked in graphics off and on for over 30 years. After raising a family, and moving to Garden City, Kansas in the summer of 1994, she was able to fulfill a longtime ambition to pursue her own art and began to produce works in pastel. In 2001, while living in Joplin, Missouri, Carol earned a BA in Studio Art at Missouri Southern State University --  a dream come true that expanded her artistic horizons immeasurably. In school, she developed her abilities in multiple mediums for art making, including painting, printmaking, mixed media and assemblage, which all inform her present artistic choices.

Most of her life has been spent working in the graphic arts, and her love of graphic forms often permeates her fine artwork; in addition, she finds the computer to be a valuable tool for art making. She is fascinated by color, the effects of light on color, and the way light falls across the human form.  Carol finds a never-ending challenge in trying to capture that light -- those colors -- that form.  She loves being an artist, and will certainly continue to stretch and challenge herself as she explores new avenues of creativity.

Carol has won awards and exhibited in galleries and art shows in several states. Her work is in private collections across the United States and in Europe. She currently lives in St. Louis, MO, and works at an advertising specialities firm as the head of the graphics department.
